    1st Annual walkathon

    THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE SF 2020 WALKATHON A GREAT SUCCESS. THE EVENT IS NOW CLOSED

    Walk for health walk for fun walk for a purpose!

    Our Purpose

     COVID is forcing us to stay put in our houses but what better thing to do then taking walks outside and enjoy last few weeks of summer ? But wait. Let’s not just walk….Lets Walk for a cause. Saraswat foundation is arranging a virtual walkathon for us all. 

    Join us and be part of fun! How to participate:

     

    1. Please register to join the walkathon here. Registration fee is 5$ per participant. If multiple members from same family are participating make sure to register each one separately and with own unique email address.
    2. Once registered “Sit back and relax”. Ooops ! Start walking !  Also start fund raising. Each participant should  Minimum $25 to qualify for prizes during the walkathon.
    3. Each participant should collect “steps walked” and keep track of that daily. We believe in you !
    4. On following days report back collective steps: Aug 26th , Sep 1st and Sep 6th. Don’t forget to restart counter once you report your count.
    5. Make sure to take beautiful pictures during walks.



     Once you join the walkathon you will walk in our own areas morning and evening or once daily or once a week but every step counts. We encourage you to form groups if you like to walk with someone. Explore your neighborhood, nearby parks or nearby hikes. You just have to keep track of steps you take and report it back at each milestone. 

    What’s in it for you?

     

    We all will improve our health and in turn may gain more walking buddies. Some might get to spend more family time outside rather than cooped up in the house. We might find some new parks in our area we have not ever been to. Whatever you gain there is nothing to Lose. In process of helping ourselves we will help others. We want everyone to continue walking even after challenge is over.

    But to top it all we will also have lucrative prizes for winners in following categories:

    1. Most steps walked  
    2. Most funds raised
    3. Most steps walked in Senior (above 60) category
    4. Raffle draw winner

    How will we support :

     

     First thing first ! We will be walking with you all daily. We will also create a WhatsApp group of all walkers where we can share and chat about our walkathon. We will share fun tidbits, pictures and updates of walkathon throughout 2 weeks. At end of the walkathon we will declare winners !

    Fundraising ideas:

     

      Remember this is your chance to make a difference for you, your friends and family. Involve others to walk with you. Here is fundraising pledge for you all to get others involved. Print it or just ask your friends. Make your own groups with your locals and get everyone excited to support the walk. There is no small pledge. Every penny pledged will go to good cause. We assure you that !
